DRUNK DRIVING FATALITIES MAKE UP 28% OF TRAFFIC FATALITIES
Overall alcohol related motor vehicle fatalities (i.e., DUI deaths) made up 28% of 2016 overall motor vehicle fatalities. This 28% of overall fatalities is the lowest percentage since 1982 when NHTSA started reporting alcohol data. However, alcohol impaired driving fatalities (Drunk driving deaths) increased by 1.7% from 2015 to 2016. This number should be going down and not up considering ride share programs like Uber are readily available.
